Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital has launched a new virtual nursing program to support its staff and patients 24/7. The virtual nurses help with tasks like admissions and discharges, freeing up bedside nurses to focus on hands-on patient care. The program, which was developed after studying other hospitals' models, has been well-received by both patients and staff, with one patient stating the virtual experience felt as personal as an in-person interaction. The program is staffed by experienced nurses and is currently active in eight Sentara hospitals, with plans for further expansion.
