UH Lake West implements hospital-wide virtual nursing program
University Hospitals has launched a hospital-wide virtual nursing program at UH Lake West, using Vitalchat’s AI-enabled audio/video platform to let remote nurses support all inpatient units. The virtual team helps with tasks like admissions, discharges, patient education, monitoring, and urgent interventions—freeing bedside nurses to focus on hands-on care. In earlier pilots across six units, the program showed improved patient experience, more efficient workflows, and stronger caregiver engagement. UH plans to expand it further—to 24/7 coverage, virtual monitoring, and broader use in the ED and OR.
